In Seattle you can have the best of both worlds: a warm summer and a chill winter with everything in between filled with rain. For the frequency of precipitation the city is known as "Rain City" or "Emerald City" for the plentiful lush vegetation that is a direct result of all the rain. Seattle has one of the busiest ports for cruises. If you're bound for an Alaskan cruise chances are you will likely depart Seattle. However, Seattle is also the place where the world's richest man and founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates calls home.

The region is also known as one of the most educated places in the United States. It attracts such major technology companies as Microsoft, Amazon, and Nintendo. Other major companies chose to headquarter or have a big presence in Washington State are: Starbucks, Nordstrom, Paccar, Boeing, Costco, and T-Mobile.
